Canadian Council of Technicians
and Technologists
The Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists
was incorporated in 1973. Its mission is to benefit
society by advancing technology through the applied
science and engineering technology professions. One
of the council's standing committees, the Canadian Technology
Accreditation Board, assesses forest technology programs
in Canada on our behalf. [more]
Canadian Federation of Professional
Foresters Associations
The Canadian Federation of Professional Foresters Associations
is an organization with membership from each of the
provincial forestry regulators in Canada plus the Canadian
Institute of Forestry, which represents those provinces
in which forestry is not a self-regulated profession.
The federation works on issues of common interest to
the professions, such as mutual recognition, labour
mobility, recognition of continuing education and codes
of conduct.
Canadian Forestry Accreditation
Board
The Canadian Forestry Accreditation Board (CFAB) is
responsible for the accreditation of Canadian university
forestry baccalaureate programs for the purpose of meeting
academic requirements for professional registration.
Each of the provinces in which the forestry profession
is regulated contributes to the membership and financing
of the CFAB. The provinces set the academic standards
which the CFAB then measures. [more]
Canadian Institute of Forestry
The Canadian Institute of Forestry has been the national
voice of forest practitioners since 1908. It works to
advance the stewardship of Canada's forest resources,
provide national leadership in forestry, promote competence
among forestry professionals and foster public awareness
of Canadian and international forestry issues. [more]
Canadian Technology Accreditation
Board
The Canadian Technology Accreditation Board (CTAB) accredits
technology programs according to Canadian Technology
Standards (produced by the Canadian Technology Human
Resources Board). Graduation from a CTAB accredited
program ensures that an individual's academic qualifications
meet the requirements for registration with any constituent
member of the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists.
The ABCFP recognizes CTAB accredited forest technology
diploma programs for enrolment as a trainee forest technologist.
Consulting Foresters of BC
The Consulting Foresters of British Columbia
(CFBC) were founded in 1968 as a division of the Association
of BC Professional Foresters and were incorporated as
a separate non-profit society in 1991. CFBC members
offer a broad range of professional and technical forestry
services to a variety of clients in BC and throughout
Canada. [more]
