Thanks to all who participated in our 2011 National Forest Week (NFW) activities. Check out the winners in our photo contest for members, art contest for kids and essay contest for teens.
National Forest Week Art Contest Winners
More than 870 children picked up their crayons and paints and sketched their ideas of what the forest means to them and their communities and nine children emerged as winners and runner ups of the National Forest Week contest held by the Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP) and the Truck Loggers Association (TLA).
Braeden McLachlan, age 5 of Lac La Biche, Alberta, won in the 4-5 age category. Grace Miao, age 8 of Richmond , won in the 6-8 age category. Emily Richardson, age 12 of Revelstoke, won in the 9-12 age category.

Winners Announced in the ABCFP's Inaugural Essay Contest
We are pleased to announce that Bronwyn Balaz-Munn, age 16, of Coquitlam won the top prize in in the Association of BC Forest Professionals’ (ABCFP’s) first essay contest held during National Forest Week. Valerie Flokstra, age 15, of Chilliwack, and Kelton Rohrick, age 13, of Invermere were the two runners up.

Member Photo Contest Winners Announced
We received 43 entries in our inaugural National Forest Week photo contest. We are pleased to announce that the winning photo was submitted by Gordon Haley, RFT of Terrace and the two runners up are Kelly Kitsch, RFT of Mission and John Deal, RPF, RPBio of Campbell River. All three members will receive a prize pack of ABCFP logoware and Gordon Haley will have his picture featured on the front cover of BC Forest Professional magazine’s January/February issue.
