Professional Practice in Appraisals and Cruising (PPAC) is a task force established by the ABCFP chief executive officer (CEO) to delve into the practice area of appraisals and cruising, a forestry topic that is sufficiently complex to require the detailed work of an ABCFP subcommittee. Members of this short-term task force are ABCFP members in good standing, and a blend of representatives of forest industry and government.
Objectives
The objectives of this task force are to:
- Identify professional practice issues of concern in the appraisal and cruising fields of practice;
- recommend member advice to resolve appraisal and cruising professional practice issues using the current appraisal system; and
- provide recommendations to advocate for change, if appropriate.
Once complete, the PPAC will pass on its findings to theCEO and the Professional Practice Committee so they may consider guidance to members.
Duties
To meet these objectives, the task force is reviewing actual operational scenarios that reflect issues of concern in appraisals and cruising. Specifically, member concerns and actions related to the appraisal and cruising process will be examined for consistency with principles of professional reliance, accepted standards of practice such as completeness and correctness of data collection and other related components.
Current PPAC Issues
The PPAC will post practice concerns and reviews/answers on appraisal matters here on a regular basis. Check this page often.
