Foresters-in-Training (FIT), Forestry Pupils (FP) and
Trainee Forest Technologists (TFT) must complete an
articling period as a condition of their enrolment.
If you are an FIT or FP, your sponsor must be a practising
RPF in good standing. If you are a TFT, your sponsor
must be a practising RPF or RFT (who has passed the
RFT Registration Exam) in good standing. For complete
information on the articling period, refer to the
Articling Policy:

Responsibilities of the Enrolled
Member
1. Maintain Frequent Contact
with Your Sponsor
You must agree to work with your sponsor and maintain
frequent contact with him/her to gain the necessary
exposure to the practice areas outlined in the Articling
Policy.
2. Create a Professional
Development Plan
You must create a Professional Development
Plan with the assistance of your sponsor. You should
discuss your progress toward completion of your plan
with your sponsor at regular intervals. We may ask to
see your Professional Development Plan at any time.
3. Create a Practice Diary
You must keep a Practice Diary to document your progress
towards registration and the actions you take towards
completion of your Professional Development Plan. You
should discuss your diary with your sponsor at regular
intervals. We may ask to see your Practice Diary at
any time, so it should always be current.

Responsibilities of
the Sponsor
1. Oversee Your Growth
and Development
Your sponsor agrees to oversee your growth
and development during the enrolment period as you work
towards becoming a registered forest professional.
2. Review Enrolled Member’s Practice Diary and Professional Development Plan
Your sponsor must monitor your progress towards completing your articling requirements. Your sponsor must periodically review your practice diary and verify that you are carrying out your professional development plan.
See the Articling Policy for complete details
about all responsibilities:

Changing Your Sponsor
You must have a sponsor at all times during
your enrolment period. There are many reasons why you
may need to change your sponsor at some point: you or
your sponsor move to another area; incompatibility;
employment change; your sponsor can no longer maintain
the commitment; your sponsor ceases to be an active
member in good standing. No matter what the reason,
you must discuss any changes with your old sponsor and
submit a Change of Sponsor form signed by you and both
your new and old sponsors.
