Steps to Renew

Your membership must be renewed for 2012 so that you can continue to practise forestry in BC. A membership renewal notice will be e-mailed to you in early October 2011. The deadline to renew your ABCFP membership is December 1, 2011.

Important Dates (new dates)
Early October Membership renewal notice e-mailed to members.

December 1

Annual membership fees and self-assessment declarations/declarations of non-practise due.

December 1

Last date to renew membership to avoid being charged an administrative fee of $50.00 for late membership renewal.

January 31

You will be removed from membership if we have not received your membership renewal by this date.

Steps to Renew Your Membership*
All associate members, registered members, conditional registered members, transferring forest professionals, members with special permits for limited licences granted with a permit term of three years or more must complete three steps to renew their membership:
Step 1:

Submit your 2011 Self-Assessment Declaration or Declaration of Non-Practise

Step 2: Notify the ABCFP if there has been a change in your indictable offence status.
Step 3: Pay your fees.

Enrolled members, retired members, life members and honorary members only need to complete two steps to renew their membership:

*Members facing extenuating circumstances should contact the association in confidence.

Renew Membership Online
The fastest and easiest way to renew your membership is online. Log onto the Membership Renewal page and follow the instructions carefully. If you have difficulty logging on or forget your logon information, send an e-mail to .

Renew Membership by Mail, Fax or in Person
You can also renew your membership by mail, fax or in person by downloading and completing the applicable membership renewal forms available on the Forms page.

You Must Complete All Required Steps to Renew Your Membership
If you haven’t completed all the required steps by December 1, 2011, you will be subject to additional fees. If you haven't completed all of these steps by January 31, 2012, you will lose your right to practise professional forestry in BC.

Change of Status (Retirement, Leave of Absence or Resignation)
If you are currently retired, unemployed, on parental leave, returning to school, working outside of the province, medically unfit to work, etc and are not practicing professional forestry in BC as defined by the Foresters Act you may be eligible to apply for a change of status.  For more information, refer to the Change of Status page, Change of Status Policy and Registration Policy.

Note: Conditional RFT’s and Special Permit Licence Holders are not eligible to apply for a change of status.

For members applying for a change in membership status, the association must receive the completed applications by December 1 or administrative fees will apply. If completed applications are not received by January 31, you will or lose your right to practise professional forestry in BC.
