IMPORTANT NOTICE: ABCFP Bylaw Changes Coming in 2013
In 2012, council approved a plan to update the association’s bylaws in several phases. Phase one was completed in 2012 and we are now in phases two and three (with member voting beginning on January 16, 2013).
Phase One: Bylaws Comply to Foresters Act
Phase one was completed in 2012 when members ratified changes that brought the bylaws into compliance with Foresters Act changes.
Phases Two and Three: Modernization and Housekeeping
We are now moving forward on the second and third phases which will involve changes required to modernize the bylaws and general bylaw housekeeping.
There are more than 60 changes necessary to update our bylaws in terms of modernization and housekeeping. Because of the large number of changes, we have decided to break the bylaws into four batches and members will vote in four bylaw ballots. Associate Members will only be voting on bylaws that pertain to them in each batch.
Vote on Batch 1 (Bylaws 1-4)
Date: Voting is open from January 16 to February 6, 2013.
Who Can Vote:
- Only active registered and retired registered members (RPFs, RFTs, RPFs(Ret), RFTs(Ret)) who are in good standing are eligible to vote on all bylaw changes presented in batch 1.

Batch 2 (Bylaws 5 and 6)
Dates: Voting is open from February 20 to March 13, 2013.
Who Can Vote:
- Active registered and retired registered members (RPFs, RFTs, RPFs(Ret), RFTs(Ret)) in good standing are eligible to vote on all bylaw changes presented in batch 2.
- Associate members (ATCs, ATEs, SASs) in good standing are eligible to vote on changes to Bylaws 5.22 (includes 5.22.1, 5.22.1.1, 5.22.1.2, 5.22.1.3, 5.22.1.4 and 5.22.1.5), 6.9.1, 6.9.2, 6.9.5, 6.9.6, 6.9.7, 6.9.8 and 6.9A (includes 6.9A.1, 6.9A.2, 6.9A.3, 6.9A.4, 6.9A.5 and 6.9A.6).

Batch 3 (Bylaws 7, 8 and 9)
Dates: Voting is open from March 27 to April 26, 2013.
Who Can Vote:
- Active registered and retired registered members (RPFs, RFTs, RPFs(Ret), RFTs(Ret)) in good standing are eligible to vote on all bylaw changes presented in batch 3.

Batch 4 (Bylaws 14 and 15)
Dates: Voting is open from May 13 to June 12, 2013.
Who Can Vote:
- Active registered and retired registered members (RPFs, RFTs, RPFs(Ret), RFTs(Ret)) in good standing are eligible to vote on all bylaw changes presented in batch 4.
- Associate members (ATCs, ATEs, SASs) in good standing are eligible to vote on all bylaw changes presented in batch 4.

Phase Four: Updating Signing and Seal, and Standards of Practice Bylaws
The final phase will involve Bylaws 10 (signing and sealing) and 12 (standards of professional practice). Look for more information on this page in May.

Current Bylaws
Section 9 of the Foresters Act allows for the formation of bylaws and sets forth the process required to bring them into force. Members must know, understand and abide by these bylaws.

Current Balloting - Batch 4
On May 13th, all members eligible to vote on changes to Bylaws 14 and 15 will receive an e-ballot or mail ballot (sent to those who specifically requested it or had no e-mail address on file).
