Applicants to either of the two categories of the registered member class must go through an enrolment period to prepare for registration as a forest professional. Enrolled members do not enjoy voting rights. There are three categories of the enrolled member class:
- Forester-in-Training (FIT)
- Forestry Pupil (FP)
- Trainee Forest Technologist (TFT)
Forester-in-Training
A Forester-in-Training may only practice under the supervision of a registered professional forester. They are not entitled to sign, seal or stamp professional documents.
They are entitled to use the title “Forester-in-Training” and the designations “FIT” or “F.I.T.”
Forestry Pupil
A Forestry Pupil may only practice under the supervision of a registered professional forester. They are not entitled to sign, seal or stamp professional documents.
They are entitled to use the title “Forestry Pupil” and the designations “FP” or “F.P.”
Trainee Forest Technologist
A Trainee Forest Technologist may only practice under the supervision of a registered professional forester or registered forest technologist. They are not entitled to sign, seal or stamp professional documents.
They are entitled to use the title “Trainee Forest Technologist” and the designations “TFT” or “T.F.T.”
